#BBB NEWS| Tyrese Officially Scores First No. 1 Album On Billboard 200 With ‘Black Rose’ [PHOTO]

That awesome moment when your hustle matches your results. After a relentless string of promoting his final album, Black Rose, Tyrese has officially scored his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

A feat 17 years in the making, the singer/actor’s independent release on his own Voltron Recordz label moved 81,000 copies in its first week. But it was not without a considerable effort on his own part.

Tyrese had the Internet buzzing last week when he took to the street of NYC to urge potential consumers to support his latest effort.

From the subway to the bus – where he reenacted his 1994 Coca-Cola commercial – the R&B crooner stopped at nothing to put the masses on to Black Rose, which includes the single “Shame” featuring Jennifer Hudson. Taking to Instagram in celebration, Tyrese dubbed his project “the album that saved R&B.”

“We’re celebrating!!! That moment when you bow your head and lift up your hands and say THANK YOU FATHER GOD for these gifts and opportunities I will NEVER take my access for granted!! God is the greatest!!!! I’m so grateful… So grateful!! The album that saved R&B….. Whatever the first week of sales are, doesn’t matter…. Every interview, every radio spin, every PD and on air personality shouting out my #Shame single and  #BlackRose, all of the social media fun we’ve had and more importantly every fan and supporter…. Even if you couldn’t buy the album I love you and I’m smiling ANYWAY… You guys should be very very proud… WE made a statement…. WE took a pure R&B album to #1 in 15 countries and #1 on the TOP 200 and #1 on the R&B Billboard charts!!!!

Black Rose is Tyrese third album to appear in Billboard 200’s Top 10. Congratulations to Black Ty.
