The N.W.A movie Straight Outta Compton was released to theaters Friday (August 14) and created renewed interest in the Rap group, whose album with the same name as the movie appears at the #30 spot on the chart.

Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, Debuts at #2
Dr. Dre is three-for-three after Compton debuts at #2 on the chart. 1999's The Chronic 2001 peaked at #2 and 1992's The Chronic peaked at #3 on the chart. Compton saw 294,600 units of total activity and was streamed 11 million times exclusively on Apple Music.
Kendrick Lamar Makes Jump
The fellow Compton, California rapper saw surges in sales and To Pimp a Butterfly saw 12,528 units of total activity and more than 5 million streams, landing at the #29 spot. Lamar is featured on Dr. Dre's Compton and was in conversations leading up to the release of the Straight Outta Compton film. The "Alright" emcee interviewed N.W.A for Billboard and DJ Quik called him "N.W.A, Jr."
N.W.A Appears On Chart 30 Years After Debut
N.W.A's 1988 debut album, Straight Outta Compton, appears at the #30 spot on the chart. It has been resurrected for the third week after appearing at the #173 spot and the #97 spot the past two weeks. The N.W.A film of the same name reportedly brought in $56 million its opening weekend.
