Mbuso Mandela is in police custody and will appears in a Johannesburg court on Friday for a bail hearing.
The rape allegedly took place in a Johannesburg suburb on August 7 and was reported a week later on August 14. Mbuso was arrested last Saturday.
Mbuso is one of Mandela’s 17 grandchildren. Mandela, who died in 2013 at the age of 95, spent 27 year in prison and became the country’s first black president in 1994.
