Trump’s statements come on the heels of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, which left 14 dead and 21 injured, and just one day after President Obama addressed the nation on his plans to defeat the terrorist organization, specifically asking the American people not to resort to fear.
In the press release, the 69-year-old real estate tycoon surmises the American people should no longer be the victims of heinous terrorist crimes.
“Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine,” Trump said in a statement. “Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.”
The GOP’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski manager told CNN the ban would not only apply to Muslims looking to immigrate to the United States, but Muslims wanting to visit.
“Everyone,” Lewandowski said.
Trump’s statements ruffled more than a few feathers, with Daily News writer Shaun King comparing the presidential candidate to Adolph Hitler.
